Electrical supply infrastructure and ventilation facility for Australian underground mine extension – PBE Rutherford provide complete electrical solution at Angus Place East for Centennial Coal.

The Location

The Angus Place Mine is owned by Centennial Coal in joint venture with SK Kores Australia Pty Ltd and is operated by Centennial Angus Place. The project was based in the remote location on the Newnes Plateau near Lithgow, New South Wales. Angus Place established a new electrical supply infrastructure and a ventilation facility for an underground mine extension known as Angus Place East. There has been coal mining at Angus Place Colliery for nearly 70 years with Production approval for approximately 4 million tonnes per annum.

The Situation

The requirement was to established new electrical supply infrastructure and a ventilation facility for the underground mine extension based on 66kV and 11kV. The new facility provided the underground longwall operation with improved ventilation and electrical supply through surface to seam shafts and boreholes. The project also required a fully integrated and comprehensive communication system allowing full diagnostics and remote operation.
